Sometimes vehicles clog up and can’t move forward. This situation is called a traffic jam. Traffic jams, by their nature generally occur in some big cities and towns where a lot of vehicles move about. Naturally, traffic jams are acute during pick hours when people come out of home in the morning and when again they are back home in the evening. The high rate of population growth is the main cause of traffic jams in our country. The population of Bangladesh is increasing rapidly. The increasing population needs more vehicles for transporting their goods. Eventually, the enormous increase in the number of buses, trucks, and rickshaws playing on roads is responsible for causing traffic jams in our country. Unlicensed vehicles also add to this problem. Besides, the traffic control system in our country isn’t very good. Again, drivers aren’t inclined to obey traffic rules. They are fond of overtaking each other even if it is necessary or not safe. The roads and streets aren’t also wide enough for the vehicles to play on. Frequent flood damages our roads permanently every year. So, the condition of the roads is also very bad. Traffic jams severely hamper our daily life. Passengers suffer from heat and dust being caught up on the roads. Their valuable working hours are lost. An ambulance carrying serious patients is being caught up on a road in a traffic jam and the lives of the patients are at risk. The patients and the students are the worst sufferers of traffic jams. To get rid of traffic jams. Rules should be imposed strictly. Only licensed vehicles should be allowed to play on the roads. Moreover, public awareness should be raised regarding this problem.
